About the vacancy
Business Development
About Your Next Job
Investigate the potential use of DNA Curtains in the gene therapy space and benchmark 1NA’s technology against emerging platforms and methodologies used for gene therapy R&D. The intern will map the competitive and technological landscape surrounding DNA Curtains for applications in gene editing, gene delivery, target validation, and off-target analysis. This includes reviewing relevant literature, analyzing competing technologies in microfluidics, gene editing, and biophysical single-molecule platforms and identifying opportunities where 1NA can position itself strategically within the gene therapy market.
The intern will assess competitors, current research efforts, and commercial tools to understand how DNA Curtains could uniquely support gene therapy development. From a business perspective, the intern will provide recommendations on market positioning, unmet needs, and required strategic actions for 1NA.
About Your Tasks and Responsibilities
Identify 10–15 companies or technologies offering comparable or adjacent solutions in gene therapy research, single-molecule analysis, microfluidics, or biophysics-based characterization tools. Review recent literature on gene editing, off-target analysis, DNA-protein interactions, and delivery mechanisms to evaluate where DNA Curtains can provide unique value. Compare competitor value propositions, pricing models, market focus, and key partnerships. Assess current research gaps and market needs in gene therapy that align with 1NA’s expertise.
Propose a differentiation, positioning, and communication strategy for 1NA within the gene therapy application space.
About Your Skills and Experience
Background in molecular biology, biotechnology, biomedical engineering, biophysics, or a related life sciences field. Interest in gene therapy, gene editing and/or single-molecule technologies. Curiosity, open-mindedness and a willingness to challenge yourself with both scientific and business-oriented questions. Interest in business development, technology translation, and understanding how scientific tools create value in the biotech market. Good organizational skills and the ability to structure information clearly. Ability to communicate technical concepts and business insights in a clear and concise manner. Comfortable synthesizing information from scientific papers, websites and market sources.

1NA is a start-up dedicated to the advancement of DNA Curtains, a technology conceived by Prof. Eric C. Greene at Columbia University, which presents a novel method for analyzing protein-DNA interactions, distinguished by its capability to amass thousands of data points within one measurement, marking a pivotal shift in high-throughput research. The objective of 1NA is to make this technology available to users from academic laboratories to broader biotech and pharmaceutical sectors.
