We are seeking a hands-on Equipment Engineer to join our dynamic team in Leiden. As an integral member of our Facilities Department, you will be responsible for ensuring the operational reliability, maintenance, and compliance of mainly QC equipment. Your technical expertise will enable smooth usage of equipment and support continuous improvement. Your biggest stakeholder will be the analytical department.
This is a practical, on-site role for a self-starter with strong technical skills, a passion for problem-solving and the ability to collaborate effectively with both internal teams and external vendors.

About Your Tasks and Responsibilities
- Analyze performance data.
- Perform preventive maintenance, equipment calibrations, conduct small repairs and quickly address equipment breakdowns to reduce downtime and maximize operational efficiency.
- Plan and coordinate scheduled maintenance cycles and equipment calibrations internally but also performed by vendors, prioritizing minimum disruption to laboratory workflows.
- Maintain regular communication with equipment suppliers, schedule service appointments and prompt delivery.
- Accurately document all maintenance activities, equipment qualifications, reports and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to meet regulatory and quality requirements.
- Develop and continuously improve SOPs for equipment operation and maintenance.
- Ensure laboratory staff is trained in correct equipment use to ensure optimal performance and compliance (also role for SME).
- Support regulatory audits by providing detailed, up-to-date documentation and demonstrating compliance with all applicable equipment maintenance standards.
- Monitor and coordinate the (pre)installation and commissioning of equipment to ensure seamless integration into existing processes
- Trending of performance of laboratory equipment for optimal use
- Advise in new investments for laboratory equipment
- Remain informed about the latest industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes to drive ongoing improvement in equipment engineering practices
About Your Skills and Experience
- MBO-level degree (MLO, Life Sciences).
- Proven experience and strong working knowledge of GMP regulations are essential for this position
- 2-5 years of experience in basic maintenance, repairing and qualification of common laboratory equipment (primarily but not limited to H/UPLC, UV, FTIR, GC).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail and a proactive approach to challenges.
