We are seeking a food scientist to lead the development of food products incorporating our protein isolate and/or carbohydrates. The role is part-time (20%) with flexible working, providing advice on best practice and product development.
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic problem solver with experience of plant protein food development such as plant-based milk, protein drinks and/or extruded/structured food products. They will be enthused by the potential for creating food products which mitigate climate change, produced with minimal GHG emissions.

The team currently consists of the founder CEO and a lead R&D scientist. The founder has many years' experience of starting and running businesses as well as investing in businesses. Our lead scientist has deep experience of plant biology, genetics and plant compound extraction and testing. We don't currentl depend on outside funders, so we are masters of our destiny.
About Your Tasks and Responsibilities
- Lead on functionality testing of our protein isolates and carbohydrates in order to deliver replicable results to industry standards to support product development choices and provide data for buyers of our products.
- Together with the rest of the team, set food product development priorities and design the project and protocols to deliver the priority product.
- Oversee the development of the product to production of commercial samples, functionality and consumer acceptance testing.
- Advise on regulatory requirements and patent submissions.
About Your Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in biochemistry, food science or related subject.
- At least three years’ experience of food product development, preferably in a commercial environment and/or plant-based foods.
- Experience of theory and practice of food functionality testing, including equipment operation.
- Self-motivated, results-driven, committed and creative.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in Dutch and/or English.
