At Mentor Medical Systems in Leiden, we are looking for a Maintenance Technician who is driven, curious, and eager to develop within a regulated medical‑device organization.


Under the direction of the Maintenance Lead, you will support production by performing planned and unplanned maintenance on manufacturing equipment, utilities, and facilities. You will work independently to diagnose faults, restore equipment, and continuously improve asset reliability—while collaborating with Engineering, Validation, and Production teams.


This role offers exposure to various manufacturing equipment and processes, structured maintenance systems (Maximo), and opportunities to grow technically and professionally.


About Your Tasks and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities


General Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled and corrective maintenance activities in line with approved procedures and maintenance plans.
  • Independently plan and organize maintenance tasks, including documentation, prioritization, and administration in CMMS (Maximo).
  • Communicate equipment issues, risks, and improvement opportunities clearly to the Maintenance Lead or next management level.
  • Actively support continuous improvement initiatives and special technical projects.
  • Ensure full compliance with Quality Management System (QMS), GMP, environmental, safety, and occupational health requirements.

Technical Responsibilities

  • Execute preventive maintenance (PM) activities to ensure equipment reliability and availability.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain manufacturing equipment, utilities, installations, and buildings.
  • Respond independently to breakdowns and restore equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Support root cause investigations, fault elimination, and reliability improvements.
  • Support tool manufacturing and technical modifications where required.
  • Identify and anticipate maintenance risks related to new or existing equipment installations.
  • Support Engineering, Calibration, and Validation teams during qualifications, verifications, and process optimizations.
  • Contribute to evaluating and improving maintenance strategies and effectiveness of PM programs.

Safety & Quality Responsibilities

  • Work strictly in accordance with GMP, safety, and health regulations.
  • Ensure all required permits and work approvals are in place and followed.
  • Actively promote safe working practices and quality awareness.
  • Ensure personal compliance with all company, local, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support site operations.


About Your Skills and Experience

Experience & Education

Required

  • Secondary Vocational Education (MBO) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar technical discipline.
  • VCA Full certification.
  • NEN 3140 certification.

Preferred

  • 2–4 years of experience in a maintenance role within a medical device, pharmaceutical, or regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Solid experience in one or more of the following areas: Mechanical systems Electrical engineering Pneumatic and hydraulic systems Structured troubleshooting and fault‑finding
  • PLC knowledge is an advantage but not required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong technical foundation with a hands‑on, problem‑solving mindset.
  • Experience working with CMMS systems (preferably Maximo).
  • Good computer skills (MS Office; experience with Minitab or project tools is a plus).
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Flexible and service‑oriented attitude; comfortable working in shift rosters.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Analytical thinker who takes initiative and proactively improves processes.
  • Able to read and interpret technical documentation, procedures, and regulations.
  • Comfortable writing reports, maintenance documentation, and work instructions.
  • Fluent in Dutch and/or English.
