Position Summary:
The Materials Science Scientist is responsible for lifecycle management (LCM d in commercial manufacturing. The role ensures technical, quality, and business requirements are met to enable robust, compliant supply and product performance. The position acts as a key Materials Science point of contact for product lifecycle activities, supporting material readiness, change management, and external manufacturing operations.
About Your Tasks and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Drive end-to-end lifecycle management of raw materials across commercial products
- Provide technical leadership in supplier/material selection, qualification and issue resolution, in partnership with MSAT, Quality, Regulatory, Operations, Planning, Procurement and other relevant partners.
- Assess impact of supplier and site-driven raw material changes
- Provide materials science input into change controls, comparability, and regulatory impact assessments
- Support product lifecycle activities including non-conformances, investigations and continuous improvement initiatives
- Serve as Materials Science point of contact for internal/external manufacturing sites and CMOs
- Perform and/or review material risk assessments and ensure appropriate control strategies are defined
- Establish and maintain raw material control strategies, including specifications and other documentsProvide inspection-ready documentation and ensure compliance with GMP and regulatory requirements
About Your Skills and Experience
Qualifications & Experience
- MSc or PhD or equivalent in Material Science, Biotechnology, Pharmacy, Chemical/Biochemical Engineering, or related field
- Experience in pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical manufacturing environment is required
- Understanding of raw materials impact on process and product quality is required
- Experience with investigations, root cause analysis, risk assessments and statistical process controls is required
- Experience working with external manufacturing sites or CMOs is preferred
- Strong collaboration and communication skills is required
- Working knowledge of GMP and applicable regulatory frameworks is required
