About Your Next Job
We are seeking a skilled Protein Scientist with strong expertise in working within a research platform for antibody production, characterization and screening. This role primarily focuses on establishing a robust system for high-throughput eukaryotic expression and the initial characterization screening of Avidicures’ actibodies.
The Protein Scientist sets up early-stage processes to identify high-potential candidates, by building a solid foundation in protein expression and screening methodologies, which are key to advancing the pipeline. As the role evolves, there will be opportunities to setup antibody purification and characterization for development purposes. Strong analytical skills in protein characterization are critical to this role, particularly for the developmental characterization necessary to support candidate selection.
Data generated from this work contributes to platform discovery and drives initial hit selection, as well as further functional screening to explore cellular interactions of the Actibody in the immune system.
About Your Tasks and Responsibilities
Your responsibilities and goals:
· Contribute to the design and implementation of a high-throughput eukaryotic expression system for Actibody production.
· Implement and manage a screening platform, evaluating key protein characteristics such as expression level, folding efficiency, and binding affinity.
· Conduct detailed analysis of protein stability and unfolding to support candidate selection (e.g., melting point determination, proteolysis, aggregation assays).
· Analyze complex protein characterization data for decision-making, generating comprehensive scientific documentation (including electronic lab notebooks and reports), deliver clear and concise visual and oral presentations in research and project meetings.
· Maintain effective communication with supervisors and project leads to ensure alignment on project goals and progress.
Collaborate with team members to optimize screening protocols. Proactively suggest and implement improvements in experimental workflows, enhancing productivity and data quality.
About Your Skills and Experience
Personal Attributes & Key Skills:
· Can-do mentality, proactively identifying solutions and embracing challenges with a positive, solution-focused approach.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for interpreting complex experimental data and making data-driven decisions.
· Collaborative and consultative, you embody our values of knowledge-sharing and mutual support.
· Commitment to high-quality research standards, with attention to detail and rigorous record keeping and data integrity.
· Able to independently run experimental planning and execution of experiments, including the subsequent analysis of results.
· Excellent communication skills, both visual and oral, to present research findings clearly and concisely in meetings.
· Contribute to laboratory organization by drafting protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and participating in activities to ensure a productive and compliant lab environment.
· Proficient in using data analysis software for protein characterization and screening data (e.g., GraphPad, Excel, Prism, or similar).
· Fluent in English.
Education/Experience:
· Educated to at least BSc level in a relevant scientific field with at least 5 years of laboratory experience, preferably within an industrial setting.
· Proven experience with eukaryotic expression systems including hands-on work with high-throughput screening methodologies.
· Experience in protein characterization techniques such as SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, ELISA, AlphaLISA is highly desirable.
· Practical experience in protein purification techniques and advanced characterization methods (e.g., Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS), Differential Scanning Fluorimetry (DSF), Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) or Biolayer Interferometry (BLI) techniques is a plus.
· Familiarity with good laboratory practices (GLP) and SOP development is advantageous.
