As we expand into CDMO services for vaccines, biologics, proteins, and viral vectors, we seek a dynamic and results-driven (senior) Business Development Manager to drive new partnerships, manage relationships with our key Accounts, and leverage our unique capabilities to drive global health equity. This role is pivotal in driving revenue growth and expanding our network of strategic partners.
About Your Tasks and Responsibilities
Your Responsibilities
1. Market Intelligence & Strategic Insights
- Conduct market research to identify emerging vaccine and biologics trends and qualify potential CDMO partners globally.
- Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes to inform business strategies.
- Prepare detailed reports and recommendations for senior leadership to support decision-making.
- Provide strategic recommendations to leadership on service portfolio development, capacity investments, and new partnership opportunities.
2. Pipeline Development & Market Expansion
- Leverage Bilthoven Biologicals’ role in the EU Fab / HERA network and SII’s expertise to position the company as a premier CDMO partner.
- Build and maintain a pipeline of at least 10 new qualified CMO prospects per quarter.
- Develop tailored service proposals, working closely with MS&T, Operations, and Compliance teams.
- Represent Bilthoven Biologicals at industry events, conferences, and networking forums to enhance visibility and attract partners.
3. Revenue Growth & Commercial Strategy
- Maintain a strong understanding of vaccine and biologics production platforms (e.g., viral vectors, adherent and suspension, formulation & filling process).
- Design and implement strategies to increase revenues by 20% within 12 months through new CDMO partnerships.
- Identify, target, and acquire new international clients in vaccines, biologics, protein therapeutics, and viral vectors to secure profitable agreements.
- Promote Bilthoven Biologicals’ end-to-end CDMO services, including Drug Substance, Drug Product, and supporting GMP manufacturing services, such as QC/QP services.
- Generate and qualify leads, manage the deal pipeline, and secure long-term business partnerships.
4. Strategic Alliance & Partnership Management
- Act as the primary liaison for key accounts such as HERA and EU Fab, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Develop and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with stakeholders to foster long-term collaboration.
- Negotiate and manage partnership agreements, ensuring compliance and mutual benefit.
- Manage client expectations, ensure alignment on project scope, and guide opportunities from discovery to contract execution.
- Work closely with internal teams (Commercial, Operations, Regulatory, Legal) to ensure smooth execution of partnership agreements.
- Facilitate knowledge sharing and alignment across departments to maximize partnership success.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Market Intelligence : Deliver quarterly market intelligence reports with actionable insights. Identify at least 3 new strategic opportunities per year
- Pipeline Development: Maintain a pipeline of minimum 3-5 qualified CDMO prospects per quarter. Attend minimum 4 industry events per year to build visibility and relationships.
- Revenue Growth: Achieve 20% increase in revenue via executed contracts from new CDMO partnerships within 12 months. Secure 3 new strategic CDMO partnerships annually.
- Alliance Satisfaction: Achieve 90% satisfaction score in annual partner feedback surveys. Maintain 100% compliance in all partnership agreements and conduct quarterly alignment meetings with internal teams and key partners.
About Your Skills and Experience
- Master’s degree in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, or related field; PhD is an advantage.
- Minimum 5 years and up to 10 years of proven experience in CDMO business development within biopharma, biosimilars or vaccine manufacturing.
- Strong technical understanding of vaccine development, viral vectors, and/or protein manufacturing.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proven success in securing and managing international client relationships.
- Excellent presentation, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Experience working with EU health agencies or pandemic-preparedness frameworks is a plus.
- Fluent in English; additional European languages are beneficial.
- Willingness to travel internationally (20–40%).
