About Your Next Job
We offer innovative research services in the field of small-molecule drug discovery to the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. In our organization the Medicinal Chemistry Group organizes, plans, and supports all small molecule related matters in ZoBio’s client and internal projects.
About Your Next Colleagues
Our international team of 37 people covers four fields of expertise: Protein Engineering and Production, Assay Development and Screening, Structural Biology and Medicinal Chemistry.
About Your Tasks and Responsibilities
· Assisting in the proper registration of new molecules that will enter the project assay cascade and make these molecules ready for use in downstream (screening) assays, e.g., SPR, biochemical assays, NMR binding assays, and X-ray crystallography studies.
· Organize and execute compound quality control studies, often under project specific conditions.
· Process compounds to be assessed in NMR QC cycles. Analyze and register the resulting data to confirm the purity and solubility of the compounds.
· Organize, run and register the data from regular LCMS cycles on compounds to assess purity and stability.
· Maintenance of the ZoBio Fragment library, including support in fragment library design and handling with external partners.
· Support the organization and execution of fragments screening campaigns in both SPR and NMR (TINS).
· Organize shipments of compounds or structural biology samples to external partners, e.g., synchrotron facilities, NMR laboratories.
· Support in the preparation of protein containing samples for NMR assays.
· Assisting in preparation of buffers, compounds, and microtiter plates for executing various biophysical and biochemical assays
· Reporting results and sharing important insights from experimental work with colleagues in the group or project team in both written and verbal form
· Entering experimental work, analytical results, and conclusions in the (electronic) lab journal
· Handling and maintenance of equipment, in a proper and safe way, e.g., Agilent LCMS and the Hamilton pipetting robot.
· Assess availability of all required group reagents for experiments performed in person and in case not available initiate ordering of the required materials
· Reporting of any anomalies in laboratory, equipment, or procedures to Head of Group
About Your Skills and Experience

ZoBio is a leading innovator that provides "gene to structure" research services in early stage drug discovery. The company is a privately held, self-funded and founded in 2004. We are specialized in 4 areas: 1) enabling proteins for biophysical and structural biology studies, 2) using biophysics to screen fragment libraries for selective ligands for a pharmaceutical target, 3) using both X-ray crystallography and NMR to provide 3D structural information on complexes of ligands bound to a protein and 4) using medicinal chemistry expertise to advance fragment "hits". 1) Every protein ZoBio produces is "crystallography" quality. For structurally unprecedented, challenging proteins, we offer our proprietary Protein Domain Trapping for screening millions of variants for high level expression of soluble, functional, monodisperse protein. 2) Orthogonal screening via our proprietary TINS NMR screening technology, SPR and high concentration, functional assays. Screen the highly optimized, poised ZoBio fragment library or your own. 3) Structural information from protein NMR and crystallography. The best of both worlds with more shots on goal to solve even the most difficult challenges. 4) Medicinal chemistry focused on bridging the challenging gap between fragment and hit. We bring deep understanding of chemistry and structural biology together to fully enable fragment based drug discovery.
