About Your Next Colleagues
Pelagen is developing lab-grown leather for use in fashion, cars, and furniture. Our core activities include tissue prototyping, material analysis and testing, and process scaling. About Your Tasks and Responsibilities
The role of a Tissue Engineering Technician is to support the research, design, and development of cutting-edge solutions to push the boundaries of lab-grown leather. You will help drive experiments, teams, and collaborations with our partners to create and implement these solutions.
Primary duties, techniques, responsibilities:
- Conducting and supporting skin tissue engineering for lab-grown leather development
- Conducting and supporting cell culture
- Conducting and supporting cell and tissue analysis using a number of techniques, including various types of microscopy, cell and tissue staining, gene expression profiling, live tissue analysis, etc.
- Preparing media, compound solutions, reagents, stains, etc.
- Collecting, compiling, and interpretating R&D data
- Performing general laboratory duties, including housekeeping, updating inventory, basic equipment maintenance, etc.
About Your Skills and Experience
Experience, knowledge, skills, attributes:
- Three or more years of professional experience in cell culture is essential
- Three or more years of professional experience in practical laboratory work is essential
- Experience in tissue culture and tissue engineering is ideal
- Successful candidates will be highly motivated, independent, and focussed
The ideal candidate for this role will have an HLO diploma in life sciences or an MSc with research experience in the biomedical sciences.
Strong laboratory skills, effective communication and collaboration, and leadership qualities are critical assets for this role.
