Help us turn biowaste into a life-saving medicine. As a DSP Operations intern at ExCulture, you'll work hands-on in the lab to extract and purify an animal-free alternative to heparin, the world's most common anticoagulant drug now sourced from pig intestines, by extracting it from secondary feedstocks.
About Your Next Colleagues
You'll join a small, highly motivated team that is results-oriented but, most importantly, has fun. You'll work with Ilaria, co-founder with a biotechnology background, and Ahmad, EngD in Chemical Engineering and supervisor of the project. You'll also work with Richard, our CEO, with a background in Food Science and Technology and business. We make things happen, help each other reach our goals, and enjoy the ride.
About Your Tasks and Responsibilities
- Perform downstream processing according to SOPs
- Run process-control analytics and product-quality assays, including HPLC analysis
- Analyse experimental results and batch records
- Support investigative experiments and experimental design for process improvement
About Your Skills and Experience
- BSc/MSc student in biotechnology, bioprocess engineering, biochemistry, chemical engineering or a related field
- Interest in downstream processing, chromatography and analytics (HPLC experience is a plus)
- Precise and organised
- Curious, proactive, and a good team player
- Good command of English

Where Molecules Meet Opportunities
You'll gain practical experience in downstream processing, chromatography, HPLC and process analytics. You'll also learn batch and experimental documentation, experimental design and data analysis. You'll see how a sustainable bioprocess develops from lab bench to product, and you'll build a network in the startup community on campus.
