Laboratory Technician

As our Laboratory Technician, you’ll be closely involved in the day-to-day laboratory work behind our cancer detection technology. You’ll perform experiments according to established procedures (SOPs and WIs), accurately document your work in our Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN), and contribute to the high-quality data required for assay development and validation.

Quality and reproducibility are central to our work. You’ll receive the training and guidance needed to work   within our Quality Management System, while having the freedom to organize your daily activities and take responsibility for your workflow.

We’re also looking for someone who enjoys thinking about how laboratory work can be done better. If you naturally identify opportunities to make a process smarter, more efficient, or more automated, you’ll be encouraged to contribute your ideas.

Laboratory experiments: Perform experiments and accurately record results in our ELN.  Your work will directly contribute to assay development, validation activities, and technical reports.

Laboratory operations: Help keep the laboratory organized and running smoothly, including routine equipment maintenance and general laboratory activities.

Stocks, purchasing, and supplies: Help ensure reagents, materials and consumables are available when needed. This includes Purchasing laboratory supplies, monitoring stock levels, and receiving and accurately documenting incoming goods.  

Quality documentation: Contribute to the review and continuous improvement of SOPs, WIs, and other laboratory documentation.

Continuous improvement: Bring a practical and critical eye to our workflows and contribute ideas to improve   efficiency, consistency and automation.

• A relevant laboratory qualification (MBO-4, HLO, BSc or MSc) in Life Sciences, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology or related field. We value hands-on experience, skills, and potential alongside formal education.
• Strong hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques, particularly PCR and DNA extraction.
• Scientific curiosity combined with a practical mindset and genuine enjoyment of working at the bench.
• Accurate, structured, and detail-oriented approach, with the ability to understand the purpose behind the experiments you perform.
• A proactive and independent working style with a positive, get-things-done mentality.
• An interest in improving laboratory workflows, including process optimization and automation.
• Fluency in spoken and written English, Dutch language skills are a plus.
• Experience working with a Quality Management System and/or ELN is a plus.
• Ability to commute to our laboratory in Leiden.
• Legal right to work in the Netherlands.
• Available to work on-site in the laboratory/office at least 4 days per week.

We’re looking for a Laboratory Technician to join our team and contribute to the development of Qurin`s bladder cancer detection test and extraction kit. You’ll play an important hands-on role in laboratory testing and validation, supporting our work towards meeting IVDR and FDA requirements.
